About ionpsych
Ionpsych is a blog site created by Daniel Simons to showcase general-audience writing about psychology research. The site was founded in January 2011 to accompany a University of Illinois graduate class on writing and speaking about psychology for a general audience. The name of the site has multiple meanings:
I on Psych: The posts on this site are the opinions of individual researchers, written in their own voices. At least at first, all of the bloggers on the site come from the University of Illinois, giving a second meaning to the “I.”
Eye on Psych: The bloggers on this site keep a close eye on the field of psychology, looking for the latest interesting research, connecting it to broader themes in academia and the real world.
Ion Psych: Like an ion, the posts on this site are not neutral. They take strong theoretical stands, often highly charged ones.
